WHALE WATCHING

Twice a year the California Gray Whale migrates from its feeding grounds in the Bering straits to the breeding grounds off Baja California and back again.

Sea Life Studies Whale Watching Trips take you out into the migratory paths of these magnificent animals to unobtrusively observe them in their natural habitat. From playful otters and dolphins to birds in the sky, you'll have a front row seat to nature's greatest theater.

WHALE WATCHING PROGRAM: Whale watching groups assemble at Virg's Landing for instructions and to complete paperwork.

Multimedia Presentation: Before the vessel leaves, docents from the Natural History Museum give a multimedia presentation about whales, their lives, their habits and their environment.

On the Water: Coast Guard Certified, open ocean vessels, provided and operated by Virg's Landing are boarded and leave the Morro Bay Harbor. The boats then venture into the area of the whales migratory path where they have been seen. While on board, docents from the Natural History Museum are available to describe and answer questions about the whales, accompanying sea life, shore life and their interaction.

Return: Boats return to Virg's landing and disembark.

Duration: Each trip lasts 2-3 hours.

Cost: $35.00 per person, $25.00 for children (15 and under) and school groups.
